1. About OwlSonic
Welcome to OwlSonic. These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to the OwlSonic website, applications and OwlSonic Cloud features (collectively, the “Service”). OwlSonic is a personal music-library and playback product, not a subscription service providing a licensed commercial catalog of songs.
The Service is provided under the OwlSonic brand by Kuzmin VD, contactable at [email protected].
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms to the extent permitted by applicable law. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Beta software and availability
Some versions of OwlSonic may be distributed as beta, preview or other pre-release builds, including through direct downloads or source-code hosting platforms. Features may change, be incomplete, experience interruptions or contain bugs. Cloud storage capacity, supported formats, operating systems and other capabilities may vary by build or account entitlement.
We may update, suspend or discontinue features where reasonably necessary. We do not promise uninterrupted availability, permanent support for every external service, or that the Service will meet every user’s needs. Nothing in these Terms removes consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
3. Your account
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for activity authorized through your account. Provide accurate information, keep your contact email accessible and notify us if you suspect account misuse.
Account access may be limited or disabled where necessary to protect the Service, address misuse, or comply with applicable law. You can request deletion of your account as described in our Account Deletion page.
4. Your music and permissions
OwlSonic allows you to add music to a personal collection. You are responsible for ensuring that you have the rights and permissions needed to obtain, upload, store, process and listen to the content you import. Buying a track, finding it online or being able to play it on another platform does not automatically grant every right required for copying or uploading it elsewhere.
You retain whatever rights you hold in your own content. You authorize OwlSonic to host, process, convert, analyze, synchronize and deliver content as necessary for the Service. This authorization is limited to operating the Service and does not transfer ownership of your music to OwlSonic.
OwlSonic’s current architecture may retain deduplicated or content-level audio objects, artwork, metadata and analysis after account deletion, without a direct account link, as described in the Privacy Policy. This technical retention does not grant the public a license to your content or remove rights you may have under applicable law.
Do not use OwlSonic to violate copyrights, contractual restrictions, privacy rights or other laws, or to distribute content you lack permission to distribute.
5. External websites and music platforms
Features involving third-party links or music services depend on those services’ technical behavior, permissions and terms. OwlSonic is not endorsed by, affiliated with or an official client of YouTube, SoundCloud, Spotify or any other third-party platform unless explicitly stated otherwise.
Third-party content may become unavailable, and a link being technically importable does not establish that downloading or copying its audio is permitted. You are responsible for assessing whether your intended use is lawful and allowed under the relevant service terms.
6. Acceptable use
You must not:
- Upload or process content without the necessary rights or permissions.
- Attempt unauthorized access to another user’s account or data.
- Abuse the Service, evade reasonable usage limits, or disrupt infrastructure.
- Use the Service to distribute malware or engage in fraud or unlawful conduct.
- Misrepresent your relationship with OwlSonic or another rights holder.
7. Ownership of the Service
The OwlSonic name, branding, website design and proprietary Service materials belong to their respective rights holders. Your right to use the Service does not grant permission to use OwlSonic trademarks or third-party artwork in unrelated commercial materials.
If any OwlSonic source code or third-party component is distributed under an open-source license, that license controls the rights granted to the corresponding code or component.
8. Privacy and data retention
The Privacy Policy explains how OwlSonic processes personal information. Account deletion does not currently erase all processed music objects from cloud storage. Please read the retention and account-deletion sections before uploading music.
9. Suspension, termination and deletion
You may stop using OwlSonic at any time. Account deletion requires a request through an available account-deletion route and has immediate access consequences; removal of certain account records is asynchronous. Details and remaining stored content are described in Account Deletion.
We may limit access where proportionate and reasonably necessary for security, service integrity, or compliance with law. Where required by law, we will provide appropriate notices or remedies.
10. Disclaimers and liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, preview and beta builds are made available without a guarantee that every feature will be error-free or uninterrupted. We recommend keeping separate backups of music and data that matter to you; OwlSonic Cloud should not be your only copy.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability or consumer rights where doing so is prohibited by law, including mandatory protections applicable to consumers.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect changes in the Service or applicable requirements. We will update the date above and provide additional notice where legally required. Changes do not remove rights already established under applicable law.
